Being Sick Sucks - Must Haves!

Hey Guys!

I wanted to follow up with you all, as it is the second to last day of DC Fashion Week and I have been M.I.A. I should be getting fitted for tonight's show, but I'm actually currently in bed, with my robe on, fuzzy socks and tissue box not to far away. Unfortunately, I have come down with the FLU!! So sad, but it is true, I started to feel pretty crappy Wednesday night after the first show (which was pretty amazing) come Thursday morning the flu had attacked my body and I was out for the count. Literally, cried (yes, I'm a big baby, but body aches are real and are really painful) :/ I saw my doctor, did the flu test and was 100% positive. UGHH!

So, even though I'm feeling like crap, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do a sick day must have! I've noticed no matter what I do to "try" to clean up behind myself, my bedside is a hot mess of all the crap I'm currently using/need to get through these next few days.

Also, I was suppose to be flying to LA on Monday, but obviously some things have come up and I will Not be traveling anywhere that doesn't involve my robe and bed. WAHH!

Anywaysss...

On to my Sick Day Must-Haves~

1. Medication - I am currently on prescribed meds (antibiotics) from the doctor, but normally when I'm feeling under the weather or have some "issue" I prefer to do things on the more "Holistic" side and not pop a bunch of pills. That is my preference and to each his own.

2. Humidifier -  These are great for not only stuffiness but also for those who experience dry skin. Adding a humidifier to your room will bring moisture to the air and help aid that dryness and irritation. This has been my savior, as my house is typically hot on the top level (heat rises) so my bedroom air is very dry. I Can't Smell anything! :( But I'm getting a fabulous facial!

3. Boxes of Tissues - I love Kleenex tissues and have them stacked, my favorite are the tissues with lotion or Vicks in it. They are so smooth and don't leave my nose dry and sore, as I am having to blow my nose a lot. Gross I know!

4. Vicks VapoRub - I used this a lot as a child, but not so much until now. I love this rub, it has Eucalyptus oil helps with respiratory issues, muscle pain, fever etc. as well as Menthol to really help open those sinus. I rub this on my chest and neck throughout the day but mainly right after I take my medicine as it will help me sleep better.

5. Green Tea with Honey - You can purchase teas with honey already in it but I'm old school and I like to purchase my green tea and honey separately. Green tea has so many great benefits and the warm tea with honey really helps smooth my throat during this nasty time.

6. Vitamin C - I take VitC chewable tablets I purchased at my local drugstore, take one a day with water and the taste actually isn't that bad. Also, I have a whole bag of Oranges, I just love them and I feel like when I'm sick, that is the purest form to get that VitC, peeling back an Orange and biting right into it! So Good!

Last but not least, NETFLIX! Because what would life be without it!

There were some others I wanted to share with you... I think! But my computer is about to die, and my meds are kicking in which means I can't really focus and need a nap! HA!

Thank you so much, let me know what your must haves are when your sick or even when your feeling great! I will hopefully be walking in the final show tomorrow, which I will come back and do a post all about DC Fashion Week! Remember, This too shall pass... well it better! LOL :)

Also, stay hydrated!! Drink WATER All Day, Every Day!

XOXO,

So Fresh & So Clean

Happy Tuesday to everyone!

Today I wanted to chat about some of my favorite drugstore products right now. First off, I wanted to put my disclaimer that, my products I use in my morning and nightly routines are always changing as I like to try different products and my skin is very sensitive, so if my skin isn't feeling something.. on to the next one!

But right now there a few drugstore products that are doing their job for me, so I can dig it! Let's start from top to bottom to make it easy...

For my hair, I have extremely curly hair (curl type - 3C), I LOVE my curls but the downside to having curly hair is dryness and day to day management. Most of the time I put hair extensions in and keep my natural hair braided down to prevent damage and promote growth. I plan on doing a post about extensions, how to install, maintain and clean.

Hair Products:

* Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Sulfate free Shampoo
At first, the smell was a little off putting as I have been using *Mixed Chicks* for a while now and love the smell, but the black vanilla smells exactly how it sounds. Carol's Daughter Shampoo price can't be bet at only $10.00 (on the site) for a nice sized bottle. It leaves my hair feeling very clean and actually moisturized!

* Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner
Not much to say about this conditioner but I love it! It does its job and leaves my hair finger comb soft after leaving the product in while I shower for only about 3-5 minutes. This conditioner is very moisturizing and hydrating. Only about $10 at the drugstore!

* Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner
When I discovered Mixed Chicks, Heaven's gates opened! OMG I LOVE Mixed Chicks Products! On the front of the bottles, it list all the benefits and properties and the smell! YASSSS! :)

I also mix in some Coconut oil and argan oil in my hands with the leave-in conditioner then run it through! <3

Face Products:

*Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser Creamy Formula
This facial cleanser has seriously become my favorite thus far! I have seen dermatologist, purchased expensive medications and other drugstore products, but nothing compares to the results this creamy cleanser. No Sulfate and no Parabens - 12 fl oz for about $8.99 (online) Two thumbs up!

* Sea Breeze for Sensitive Skin Astringent
I heard a Youtube Makeup guru @Carlibybel talk about this astringent in one of her videos and decided to try it out when I saw it in the drugstore by my house. Take a cotton ball with the astringent after cleansing and it removes ALL the leftover dirt, makeup and grim. For only about $4 an exfoliator well worth the little sting!

* Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer with SPF 50 (Sensitive Skin)
After cleansing, the best moisturizer I have, it doesn't leave the skin dry and oily, which for me a lot of moisturizers do! About $14 online for 1.7 fl oz, but totally worth it.

Body Products:

*Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash
Dove products cater to people with sensitive skin and as the title says, is so nourishing to the skin and has a great smell. Of course a drugstore product for about $6 depending on where you go! I see a lot of 2 for 1 deals as well!

*Dove Go Fresh Cool Essentials
My Scent: Cucumber & Green Tea
I know I know, I shouldn't be using a deodorant with Aluminum in it but I just love this scent so much! :/

Aluminum Free Alternative:
Tom's of Maine Natural Long Lasting Deodorant and Antiperspirant

*Jergens Crema Deep-Conditioning Shea Butter Body Cream
A wonderful smell and thick conditioning and nourishing lotion for dry skin. Before discovering this product, I really didn't care much for Jergen's lotions, but this body cream has changed my opinion for the better!

Additional Products to Mention:

*Tom's of Maine Fluoride Free Toothpaste
*Coconut Oil
* Argan Oil
*Tea Tree Oil

So, there you have it, my top favorite drugstore daily cleansing and hygiene products I'm loving right now! Let me know your favorite drugstore products. Remember, it's not about how much you spend to know you're getting your money's worth! :) Now go treat yourselves to a bubble bath and Netflix night on this snowy winter day!

Stay warm and I will talk to you soon!

XOXO,

Late Night Chit Chat

... As you can tell from the title... I didn't really know what to post about. UGH. This is probably going to be a rambling post, because I tired, need to do my hair, it's almost Friday and I can't wait to do my Valentine's day post but it's to early for it :/ - so yeah I'm pretty much just here to chit chat.

Let's Begin...

First off, just wanted to say I'm really starting to get comfortable with blogging again and I can really feel the wheels turning and my creative juices flowing, which makes me very excited!! :)

Tomorrow, I will be posting some Hair, Makeup and Outfit ideas of Valentine's day looks. I will have looks for of course my everyday girl; the girl going out on a date, who wants to feel romantic, but as well as the girl going out with her friends for a singles night out and wants to know what to wear without looking...desperate. Yes, I said it but not every single girl is desperate on Vday and I want to help those ladies who are single to celebrate the holiday of love. By the way, there is nothing wrong with being single.. I'm on that same boat and loving it! But that is another post... coming soon. HEYYY! *lol*

Let's clarify, Valentine's Day is all about LOVE, no where is there a written rule that you must be IN love with someone to celebrate. If you love yourself, your family, just people in general, animals, nature, life or even just waking up every morning... Valentine's Day is the day to celebrate and appreciate it. It's not all about chocolates and flowers; ladies, if you want flowers, go buy them or better yet, plant some! Happiness and love is universal, so my hope is for everyone to feel the love in the air on Valentine's Day!

Wow, I feel like I just typed Valentine's Day like a million times. And just went on a little Hippie rant at the end! HA!

Moving on...

After this weekend, my days become VERY hectic, so I'm hoping to get as many post up as I can before then. Hopefully Monday and Tuesday I will be flooding the Internet with post! Be on the look out! :)

Now time for ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Next week I will be walking in DC Fashion Week! YAY!!
